There are always outstanding performances on the field in Wyoming prep football. Here are some of the highlights from the 2nd Week of football.
WEEK 2 Keep in mind these are from stats submitted by schools around the state. There are some schools that do not submit information, therefore, they are not included in Peak Preps.
Rushing: Jackson’s Theo Dawson racked up another huge game. He ran the ball 18 times for 318 yards and 1 touchdown vs. Rawlins. Bryan Burton of Star Valley ran 16 times for 226 yards and a score. Meeteetse’s Seth Bennett ran 8 times for 219 yards and 3 scores. Matt Vandebossche ran 27 times for 190 and 2 scores for Lusk and Daniel Sessions led 4A with 27 carries 190 yards and 2 td’s for Sheridan.
Passing: Beau Green of Lovell was 15 fo 20 for 316 yards and 5 touchdowns vs Pinedale. Douglas’ Austyn Matthews was 15 of 24 for 276 yards and 3 scores. Sterling Baker tossed a perfect 10 of 10 for Dubois for 228 yards and 2 scores without an INT. Marcus Nolan of KW15 fo 24 for 219 yards and tds. M Crabtree of Newcastle hit 7 of 10 passing for 130 yards.
Recieving: Drake Welch of Lovell caught 9 passes for 238 yards and 3 scores. Colter Poole of Green River caught 3 for 142 and 2 td’s against Riverton. Rowan Hawk of Dubois would catch 2 for 80 in six man football. 4A saw Logan Wilson of Natrona catch 5 for 71.
Defense: Kyle Jeffres of Pine Bluffs had a monster game with 44 defensive points. He had 17.5 tackles and 1.5 sacks. 8 of those were unassisted. Carrico Walker of Dubois tallied 35 points with 3 fumble recoveries and 10 tackles. Taylor Rouse of Kaycee had 35 points. Daniel Magana of Wright tallied 33.5, Jake Mazurie of Lander had 32 including an interception. Eric Sowers of Evanston tallied 26 to lead 4A. Alex Ziegler of Saratog had 3 INT’s.
All Purpose Yards: Sterling Baker accounted for 583 yards for Dubois on 24 touches. He also scored 34 points. Beau Green of Lovell was good for 340 yards on 26 attempts for Lovell, Star Valley’s Bryan Burton accounted for 331 yards on 23 touches.
Scoring: Sterling Baker, Dubois, 34 points, Well Elzemeyer of Jackson scored 28. Seth Bennett of Meeteetse scored 27 while Merritt Crabtree of Newcastle and Landen Bradshaw of Lyman scored 26 each.
WEEK 1Rushing: Devon Parkinson, Glenrock, 34 carries for 302 yards and 4 touchdowns. Theo Dawson of Jackson carried 18 times for 251 yards and 2 scores.
Passing: Greybull’s Calder Forcella went 20 of 36 for 279 yards. He had 2 td passes and was picked off twice. Mountain View’s Austin Housekeeper was 21 of 37 for 247 yards 2 td’s and three INT’s. Tevis Bartlett of East was 14 fo 23 for 238 4 td’s and 3 INT’s.
Recieving: Cameron Johnson of East caught 9 passes for 166 yards and 4 td’s. Shaffer of Thermopolis caught 5 for 144 and a touchdown. Hayden Fauber of Kaycee caught 9 passes for 118 yards and a score.
Defense: Tyler Kane of Tongue River racked up 41 points with 11 tackles, 3 for loss and two fumble recoveries. Steven Winer of Pinedale had 39 points with 2 sacks, a punt block, and a fumble recovery. Dakota Cox, also of Pinedale, had 35 points. Natrona’s Josh Harshman had 2 INT’s to lead the state in the week. Skyler Miller of Torrington tallied 15 tackles against Glenrock. Ryan Malone of Saratoga and Cade Covington of Mountain View each had 14.
All Purpose Yards: Taylor Rouse of Kaycee accounted for 378 yards in the Bucs win over WIHS. He scored 18 points. Tevis Bartlett accounted for 333 yards for East against Natrona while Pat Wardell of Burlington was good for 325 against Thermopolis.
Scoring: Tate Stinson of Saratoga scored 30 points while Jett Materia of Upton/Sundance scored 28 against Moorcroft. Seth Bennett of Meeteetse, Hayden Fauber of Kaycee, Cameron Johnson of East, and Brady Esquibel of Guernsey all scored 26 points.
