(Lander, Wyo.) – Wednesday’s law enforcement recap from across Fremont County. All persons arrested or cited are innocent until proven guilty or convicted in a court of law.
Lander Police Department
Donald Smith, 50, Riverton, two LPD Warrants.
A 16-year-old girl cited for Minor in Possession. LPD Lt. Chuck Carr said officers were called to the Lander Regional Hospital Emergency Room at 1:38 a.m. on Wednesday for a patient reporting an assault by a family member. Carr said officers were unable to verify the girl’s report of an assault, but she was intoxicated. She was subsequently cited.
At 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, police were called to the 800 block of Main Street for a report of an intoxicated man. Police determined the man was intoxicated but able to care for himself, and he was allowed to finish his walk home, Carr said.
A fraud report that came to police at 11:30 a.m. is under investigation.
Police were called to the 700 block of Main Street for a report of an injured bat. The flying mammal was indeed injured, and the animal control officer euthanized it.
Two minor wrecks were reported on Tuesday. One was in the Lander Valley High School parking lot, and the other was in the parking lot of First Interstate Bank. Both had total damages of under $1,000.
A business on the 500 block of Main Street reported a trespassing cyclist who was using the ramp behind the building at 1:10 p.m. The cyclist received a ride from someone before police arrived.
At 1:39 p.m., officers were called to Gannett Peak Elementary School for a report of an intoxicated person in the building. Officers arrived and found a woman, who admitted to have been drinking, trying to enroll her children in school, Carr said. The woman had received a ride to the school from a sober individual. Police told her not to come to the school when she had been drinking, and that there was a better time and place to enroll her children. The children were not with her. She was sent home.
A report of domestic abuse on Washington Street that came to police at 6:47 p.m. is under investigation.
A person reported a computer bag stolen from in front of a business on the 300 block of Main Street at 7:08 p.m. The caller said he had left the bag outside for 10 minutes and when he returned it was gone. Inside was a 15-in. Toshiba laptop computer, a digital recorder, and a Latin school book. There are no suspects at this time.

Aaron Bigknife, 47, Fort Washakie, Probation Violation.
Mykle Johnson, 19, Riverton, Probation Violation.
Daryl Makeshine, 27, St. Stephen’s, Driving Under the Influence, Open Container, No Valid Driver’s License and Speeding.
Amanda Randall, 25, Lander, Probation Violation.
Rocky Yeates, 44, Riverton, Probation Violation.
At 7:30 a.m., deputies were called to Pleasant Drive in Riverton for a report of a 17-year-old boy who was intoxicated and bothering everyone.
A caller from Wanted Auto Service near Lander reported that someone broke into several vehicles over night.
A man on Cinnamon Way near Lander reported a theft of numerous elk sheds and heads.
At 11:35 a.m., a man reported his vehicle was ransacked while it was parked near Frye Lake on the Loop Road. The caller said the subject(s) must have gained entry through a partially open window, because he had left the vehicle locked. He reported a set of binoculars and a rangefinder among the missing items. The man had been hunting.
At 3:08 p.m. on Tuesday, a woman on the 100 block of Young Road near Riverton reported that early on Sunday morning and late Monday night one of her cats was injured after three dogs were running loose on her property.
A Fedex driver reported at 6:23 p.m. that he was bit by a dog on the 500 block of Paradise Valley Road. The man reportedly had puncture wounds on both sides of his left hand and was treated at the ER. The man did not want to press charges. The dog’s immunizations were up to date.
Riverton Police Department
Amanda Luther, 25, Riverton, Disturbing the Peace. Luther was arrested in the early morning hours on Wednesday. She reportedly had a .23 BAC.
Briston Branton, 23, Chadron, Neb., Assault. Branton was arrested in the early morning hours on Wednesday and reportedly had a .22 BAC.
Samuel WhitePlume, 31, Riverton, Assault and Resisting Arrest. WhitePlume was arrested following a report of an assault on the 200 block of North Ninth Street East.
RPD responded to 36 calls for service on Tuesday. Specific call details were not available, as the department’s leadership was involved in a Drug Endangered Children Class at the Rural Justice Training Center.
