(Lander, Wyo.) – With three members of the Lander City Council absent at last night’s meeting, the council opted not to appoint the 1 percent project citizen’s committee.
Mayor Mick Wolfe asked for the agenda item to be tabled until a meeting with a full council.
Back in January the city solicited the community to volunteer for the committee, which will act in an advisory fashion to help prioritize street and infrastructure projects to be paid for by the optional sales tax approved by voters last November.
On the recommended committee list, put together by city staff, are Sollie Cadman, Wade Alexander, Mike Quinn, Del McOmie, and Jerry Heckart. Councilor Dick Hudson would serve as the council’s liaison.
“Looking over this list for the very first time and I have to say I don’t agree with the makeup of the board at all,” Councilor Cade Maestas said in an e-mail to the rest of the council prior to the meeting. He raised concerns with possible conflicts of interest and former city connections.
Hudson moved to table the matter, and the vote was unanimous. Council President Nancy Pieropan and Councilors Dan Hahn and Cade Maestas were not present.
