Lander receives $1.1 million from SLIB; County’s $2.6 million request for Justice Center denied

(Updated at 3 p.m. on June 21 with corrected grant awards for the Lander Community Center.)

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) – Among the more than $18 million in grant and loan requests approved today by the State Loan and Investment Board was $650,000 for the Lander Community Center construction. But not included in the millions was Fremont County’s request for $2.6 million for a new Riverton justice center.

Lander City Clerk Robin Griffin confirmed in an interview that the community center received two $500,000 grants and a $150,000 loan.

City of Lander and Fremont County representatives who attended today’s meeting in Cheyenne could not be immediately reached for comment.

The SLIB is made up of the five statewide elected officials: Gov. Matt Mead, Secretary of State Max Maxfield, State Treasurer Mark Gordon, State Auditor Cynthia Cloud, and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Cindy Hill.

Business Ready Community Business Committed Applications

BRC Managed Data Center Cost Reduction Applications

  • Laramie County requested a $2.25 million Managed Data Center Cost Reduction Program Grant for the second phase of Microsoft’s expansion. (Approved by the SLIB in full)

  • Alpine requested a $550,250 Community Readiness Grant for the Snake River Water Line. (Approved by the SLIB in full)
  • Carbon County requested an $849,715 Community Readiness Grant for the Career and Technical Education Center Road Extension project. (Approved by the SLIB in full)
  • Jackson Hole Airport Joint Powers Board requested a $2 million Multi-Year Community Readiness Grant and a $3 million Multi-Year Loan for the Jackson Hole Airport expansion. (Approved by the SLIB in full)
  • Marbleton requested a $250,000 Community Readiness Grant for the Sleepy Hollow Industrial Looping Waterline. (Approved by the SLIB in full)
