Duran pleads not guilty to late May stabbing in Riverton

(Lander, Wyo.) – Patrick Vincent Duran, 24, of Riverton, pleaded not guilty to second degree attempted murder and aggravated assault in Wyoming’s Ninth District Court in Lander.

The state alleges that Duran stabbed Stefan Bigmedicine three times in his side. The second degree attempted murder charge carries with it a penalty of no less than 20 years in prison. The aggravated assault charge has a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines.

Duran remains in the Fremont County Detention Center under a $200,000 cash bond, despite his defense attorney Terry Martin arguing that is was set high. Judge Norman E. Young asked if lowering it to $100,000 would help, to which Martin replied it would not.

The alleged stabbing took place on May 26 at #98 Firethorn in Riverton. Read more about the case’s details in this earlier story.
