(Lander, Wyo.) – Thursday’s law enforcement recap from across Fremont County.
Lander Police Department
At 9:02 a.m. on Wednesday, police were called to the 300 block of Main Street for a report of a silver Dodge pickup that had a broken mirror. LPD Lt. Chuck Carr said likely one truck with a large mirror hit this one as it drove by. There are no suspects at this time.
At 3:23 p.m., police took a report on the 700 block of Jefferson Street of a stolen cell phone. Carr said the phone turned up at Lander Middle School this morning.
At 7:52 p.m., police were called by a subject on the 600 block of North 10th Street who said a juvenile girl would not stop throwing snowballs at the caller’s house. Police spoke with the girl’s parents.
At 10:44 p.m., police were called by Mr. D’s for a report of a male subject, in the 19- to 25-year-old range, who ran out of the store with medicine from the cold and flu section. He apparently left the scene in a blue pickup headed east on Main Street. Police were unable to locate him.
At 11:39 p.m., a woman on the 300 block of Canyon Street called police to report broken glass on her living room and kitchen floors. No windows or vases were broken, and there were no signs of forced entry. Carr said through officers’ investigations it was determined that the glass came from the stove range hood. It is believed it could have broken due to temperature fluctuations.
Police were called at 1:28 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a male assault victim on the 900 block of Spriggs Drive. Carr said officers believed the man had been hit in the head with a chair, but the man said he was intoxicated and in the process of trashing a room he fell and hit his head. He was transported to the hospital for additional care.

At 7:11 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies were called 8 Mile Road near Riverton for a report of a Dodge Intrepid that slid off the road. The driver reportedly was uninjured.
At 10:32 a.m., deputies were called Porcupine Drive in Dubois by a woman who said someone was trying to fence off the only access to her residence.
At 1:48 p.m., deputies were called to the 8300 block of Highway 789 near Lander for a report of someone in the caller’s garage trying to steal an ATV. The caller said the garage door was open, but now it was shut. She also said she heard someone try to start the ATV. Deputies determined that the garage door was malfunctioning and the sounds she heard was ice falling from a roof.
At 3:27 p.m., police were called by a woman in Dubois who said her son was harassed at school. She said someone bumped into her son and yelled assault.
At 3:55 p.m., deputies took a report of a Shoshoni school principal receiving harassing and slanderous emails.
At 5:04 p.m., police were called to Firethorn Lane near Riverton by a woman who found a 3-year-old girl crying in the road. The caller said the girl was covered in mud. Sheriff’s Capt. Ryan Lee said in a news release that the child wandered from a home in the trailer park where she was left unattended for 30 minutes. Lee said the mother was located and cited for child endangerment. The child was OK.
At 5:41 p.m., deputies were called about a man who took items, including credit cards, from the caller’s vehicle and was now walking on the bike path in Riverton toward Monroe Avenue. Lee said the suspect was located, and the caller asked the the man not be charged once all of the items were returned.
At 10:49 p.m., a man in Atlantic City reported that he keeps getting threatening calls from another man.
Riverton Police Department
Malcolm Whiteplume, 22, Riverton, Public Intoxication. Daniel Black, 31, Riverton, Failure to Appear Warrant.
Teresa Swimmer, 36, Riverton, Contempt of Court Warrant.
At 12:49 a.m. on Wednesday, police were called about a man who left the Boot Bar driving a green Pontiac Grand Am after “slamming three drinks.” Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
At 10:21 a.m., police were called to Brunton for a report of two $100 gift cards stolen from a desk.
An abandoned camper was reported at Birch Avenue and Walnut Drive at 1:30 p.m.
A business on the 400 block of South Federal Boulevard reported at 1:33 p.m. that some tires were stolen .
At 3:53 p.m., police were called to the bandshell for a report of two men fighting. One man was reportedly bleeding from his face. EMS transported the subject to the hospital.
At 4:07 p.m., police were notified of a fraudulent debit card being used in town, including Walmart. The report is under investigation.
Police received a call from the 100 block of South Fourth Street West about the caller’s dog being poisoned and other dogs in the area also being poisoned. The report is under investigation.
At 9:36 p.m., police were called about “drunk and belligerent” people in City Park. The subjects were moved along.
Seven subjects on Wednesday were taken to the Fremont County Alcohol Crisis Center.
