Quick hitting winter storm leaving a May Day blanket of white across the Wind River Basin

(Riverton, Wyo.) – The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Riverton early Wednesday  said a quick hitting spring snow storm would continue to bring snow this morning for portions of Central and Northern Wyoming. The heaviest snowfall was predicted to occur before dawn  with snow gradually tapering off by midday today.

* WIND AND VISIBILITY…NORTHEAST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH VISIBILITY BELOW A QUARTER MILE IN PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW.

* IMPACTS…ROADS WILL BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS IMPROVING MID TO LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING.

Today: Snow likely, mainly before 3 pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 31. Southeast wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
