Police Blotter: Arrest; 6-year-old’s death under investigation; Fight at Riverton bar

(Lander, Wyo.) – Wednesday’s law enforcement round-up from across Fremont County.

Fremont County Coroner’s Office

From our news partner KVOW/KTAK: The offices of the Fremont County Coroner and Sheriff are investigating the death of a 6-year-old boy from Dubois. Coroner Ed McAuslan identified the child as Lane Matheson. The coroner said he died Tuesday at the hospital in Riverton. In an interview Wednesday afternoon, the coroner said he did not know yet what happened and was waiting for the preliminary autopsy results to find out how the child died. The child was taken first to the clinic in Dubois before transport to Riverton.

 

Lander Police Department

Arrests:

None.

Calls:

LPD responded to 10 calls yesterday.

At 9:41 a.m. on Tuesday, police were called to the 300 block of South First Street for a report of a damage to a vehicle’s windshield. Lander Police Chief Jim Carey said the call turned out to not be of a criminal nature.

At 4 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of Northside Drive for a report of an individual there who had a warrant. The was not at the location when police arrived.

At 9:51 p.m., police were called to the 800 block of Lincoln Street for someone at a residence that was supposed to be vacant. Police determined the man at the location had permission to be there.

Lander Volunteer Fire Department

Firefighters were called to the 800 block of North Sixth Street for a report of a possible structure fire at about 9:30 a.m. today. Lander Fire Administrator Nick Hudson said a power outlet was smoking and the situation was under control quickly.

 

Fremont County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests:

Kenith Blagg, 24, Rock Springs, Failure to Appear Warrant.

Crystal Robinson, 31, Lander, Contempt of Court Warrant.

Johanna Summers, 37, Casper, Probation Revocation Warrant.

Garrett Wright, 19, Buffalo, Probation Revocation Warrant.

Calls:

At 7:34 a.m. yesterday, police were called to the 1300 block of Quiver Lane for a report of a man trying to set fire to a residence with gasoline or oil. The Wind River Police Department handled the call.

At 9:35 a.m. deputies were called to the 500 block of Green Street in Riverton by a woman reported several thefts. She told deputies she followed some subjects the night before near a bridge on Webbwood Road where she found a box in the ditch.

At 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies took a report of a brown leather wallet found on the shoulder of Highway 789 near Lander.

At 10:46 p.m., deputies were called to the Rivercity Bar in Riverton for a report of an SUV with a smashed window. The caller thought it could have been caused by two girls who were causing problems at the bar earlier. Police were called back at 11:46 p.m. for a report of three women fighting inside the bar. RPD handled the call. Additional Details were not readily available.

 

Riverton Police Department

Arrests:

Kimberly Potter, 24, Riverton, Failure to Appear.

Charles Geboe, 42, Riverton, Disturbing the Peace. Geboe was arrested following a 10:24 p.m. call on Tuesday about a disorderly individual at the Fremont County Alcohol Crisis Center.

Byron Lincoln, 47, Riverton , Public Intoxication and Littering. Gerald SittingEagle, 50, Arapahoe, Public Intoxication. Lincoln and SittingEagle were arrested following a 8:45 p.m. call about intoxicated individuals at the Red Eagle Food Store.
