(Riverton, Wyo.) – Tuesday night’s Riverton City Council meeting will be filled with reports and resolutions, including a presentation to the council from Dr. Keith Mills on a proposed non-profit Fremont County Cancer Center in Riverton. Mills conducted a public meeting on plans for the cancer center two weeks ago, and last Friday met with Mayor Ron Warpness and City Administrator Steven Weaver at the site of the proposed center, between the VA Clinic and Help For Help Hospice Home on College Drive in Northwest Riverton.
Georgia Davis, president of the Riverton Rendevous Committee, will also present a report on plans for this coming summer’s event, planned from July 13 through 21. Councilors will also be presented with a resolution to create a committee to investigate the rehabilitation of City Park. The council voted to establish the committee at its last meeting, and the action will be formalized with the resolution.
A second resolution for the council’s consideration is one to allow placement of a memorial for Command Sgt. Major Kevin Griffin at the Veteran’s Park between the Rails to Trails Pathway and City Hall. The city would maintain the memorial once it is established. A Riverton High School athlete and graduate, Griffin was killed in Afghanistan last fall by a suicide bomber.
An executive session to discuss “potential litigation” is set for 6:30 p.m. The regular meeting is slated to begin at 7 p.m. or after the executive session.
