Wyoming Basketball: Cowboys Back Home to Host UNLV on Saturday

(Feb. 22, 2013) – Continuing play in one of the toughest conferences in the nation, the University of Wyoming men’s basketball team faces another tough Mountain West challenge this weekend when the Cowboys host UNLV on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium. The Pokes (18-8, 4-8 MW) upset the Runnin’ Rebels (20-7, 7-5 MW) by two points last season in Laramie, and face a UNLV squad that is third in the conference this season but just 1-5 on the road in MW action.

Man sentenced in Wind River Indian Reservation stabbing

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) – United States Attorney Christopher A. Crofts announced today that on February 20, 2013, Russell Hill, a 19-year-old from the Wind River Indian Reservation, appeared in Federal District Court for sentencing before United States District Judge Scott W. Skavdahl on a single count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Hill received 29 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $12,363.25. The charge stemmed from a stabbing which occurred on June 10, 2012, on the Wind River Indian Reservation. The case was investigated by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, the Wind River Police Department, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

(Ethete, Wyo.) – Johnathan Boyd Jr., age 44, passed away Tuesday, Feburary 19, 2013, Lander Regional Hospital due to a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23 at 10 a.m. at Blue Sky Hall at Ethete.
