(Lander, Wyo.) – The Lander Art Center is hosting its annual Valentine’s Affair fundraiser this Saturday, featuring an array of wine, desserts and silent auction items.
“Appetizer dinner will include a Mediterranean inspired fare sure to please your palette,” states a news release about the event. “Local chocolate chefs will create small-bite chocolate masterpieces for you to taste. Vote for your favorite piece and best chocolate presentation of the night. Taste a selection of fine wines or locally brewed beer while you bid on fabulous auction items.”
LAC Executive Director Lisa Hueneke said all of the proceeds from the event will be put toward next year’s programming. She said the more successful Saturday night is, the more programming it can bring next year.
This year’s auction items range from local art to yoga classes to a scotch tasting to a plane ride to furniture. New this year is absentee bidding. To vie for any of the items, bids may be placed ahead of time through LAC’s website. A complete catalogue of items can be found here.
“Our auction is set up for the most part right now,” Hueneke said, noting anyone interested in seeing the items are welcome to stop in.
The chocolate contest is also seeking participants. This year’s theme is dark chocolate, which must be incorporated into all entries. Participants will receive a free ticket to the event. Expert’s Choice winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to The Middle Fork. The People’s Choice winner will get $50 in cash. Best Display winner will receive a bowl set by local potter Shawna Pickenpaugh. Additional information is available on the LAC’s website.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. at the Art center. Tickets are $30 each for members, and $35 for nonmembers. Tickets can be purchased at the LAC.
