Marchia was born March 9, 1942, to Ethel (Wesaw) Tillman and Albert Tillman of Fort Washakie. She attended Fort Washakie Government School, and then attended Haskell Indian High School in Lawrence, Kan., where she met and later married Irvine Dale Ell in 1961 and had a daughter Pauline Tana (Tillman) Welsh in the same year. This marriage ended in divorce. she later met James Monon Allen in 1965 then later adopted a son, Kenneth J. Allen, in 1968. She spent several years with Jimmy until his death in 1991.
Marchia enjoyed being around family and friends and being with her great-granddaughters Marquelle and Carmelle. She also loved to bead various items, found interest in reading old Shoshone tales, and enjoyed going to the casino. She loved when it rained and thundered, and she found comfort in the sound and smells of rain storms. She liked to cook and hang out in the kitchen and talk about good ol’ days when she was a little girl. She was a very good listener when you needed somebody to talk to, she gave great advice when you needed it and wasn’t shy to speak her mind and tell you how it is. She was a well-respected lady and a blessing to be around. She always found it in her heart to help others when in need, and if she couldn’t, she would find a way. She was a very loving woman and she will be missed by all.
