Police Blotter: Arrests; DUI arrests in Riverton and Lander; Juveniles warned after ‘mooning’

Fremont County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests:

Craig Isabell, 23, Pavillion, Contempt of Court.

Keith Lance, 50, Riverton, Driving Under the Influence. Deputies at 10:58 p.m. on Wednesday responded to a report of a white Chevy truck traveling at a high rate of speed near Riverton on Highway 789. The caller said the vehicle almost side-swiped their vehicle. Lance was subsequently arrested. EMS was called to check on him, though no medical problems were found.

Calls:

At 8:52 a.m. on Wednesday, a woman in Riverton reported a scam she received through a text message.

At 9:13 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies were called to the 300 block of Helmer Street in Dubois for a report of a green Subaru that passed a school bus while the red lights were on and kids were unloading. The call is under investigation.

At 10:01 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of two train cars derailed near Highway 20 and Bonneville Road in Shoshoni. The caller was with the railway company and said there were no injuries or hazardous materials situations. The Sheriff’s Office took no action.

At 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies received a call from Bonneville Road about a small blue passenger car with “very tinted windows” that almost had a head-on collision with another vehicle. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 8:40 p.m., deputies were called to Highway 789 near Riverton for a report of a male subject that drove by and “mooned” a group of females in another vehicle. Capt. Ryan Lee said a deputy made contact with five juveniles and warned them about their lewd behavior.

Lander Police Department

Arrests:

Pendleton Martinez, 39, Ethete, Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under Suspension, No Insurance and No Registration. Police Chief Jim Carey said Martinez was pulled over in the 200 block of North Second Street for an obstructed license plate and a tail light out. Martinez was found to be intoxicated with a .09 BAC. The legal limit for operating a motor vehicle is .08. Carey said the license plates on the truck belonged to a different truck.

Calls:

At 11:16 a.m., police were called to the alley of the 400 block of Eugene Street for a report of a person who dumped personal items in the alley. Carey said there were CDs, coffee cups, sales papers and other debris littering the alley. City crews cleaned up the mess. This was not the first time such littering had occurred in the area. Carey said a suspect has been identified.

At 12:44 p.m., police received a report from the Silver Spur Motel about a threat. No charges were filed.

Riverton Police Department

Arrests:

Forrest Duran, 42, Arapahoe, arrested on a Failure to Appear warrant

Calls:

Riverton Police responded to 31 calls for service in the 24 hour period that ended at Midnight Wednesday.

A Riverton resident reported an apparent fraud attempt when someone attempted to cash a check belonging to the reporting party. The police are investigating.

There were two property damage traffic crashes in Riverton Wednesday, one at 2:55 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Main Street and the other at 3:54 p.m. in the 600 block of North Federal Boulevard. Both crashes were minor, there were no injuries.

Two individuals were transported Wednesday afternoon to the Fremont County Alcohol Crisis Center after they were found to be intoxicated in public.

The Wind River Police Department at Fort Washakie reported to Riverton police of an alleged assault that occurred at a Riverton grocery store where a woman was reported to have kicked a child. The incident is under investigation.

Patrol officers assisted Fremont Count Sheriff’s Deputies with a call of a motorist driving erratically on Highway 26/789 north of Riverton. The driver turned onto Country Acres Road and then parked. Responding officers determined there was a medical problem with the driver and summoned the Fremont County EMS Ambulance.
