(Riverton, Wyo.) – “The Show Must Go On” and go on it did at the Fremont Center Saturday, even though the Friday storm resulted in some cancellations for the Wild West Winter Carnival’s Car & Bike Show hosted by the Rocky Mountain Rebels Car Cub of Riverton. “This is our fourth year for the show here,” said Mike Forget, owner of Mike’s Rod Shop in Riverton. “Unfortunately we had 14 entries that could not make it do to the storm, but the show must go on.”

While the entire floor of the Fremont Center’s exhibition hall was not filled, the cars that were there were quality ones.

One of the favorites, and one of the most newly restored, was “Dirty Gurdy,” a carmel-pearl colored Plymouth that had sat idle for some 20 years behind Storks Auto Body. Now owned by Cheryl Forget, the vehicle was restored just before last summer’s Friday Night Cruise during the Riverton Rendezvous celebration. “It has its original flathead 6 engine,” Forget said, “and I could jump in it and drive it to Las Vegas today if the roads weren’t so bad.”

Also on display was a 1966 Olds 442 displayed by Dan Higenbotham. “It’s scheduled for a new paint job this spring and I’ve still got a little work to do on it, but it’s all original,” he said.

The show is open until 4 p.m. Saturday.
