(Lander, Wyo.) – Lander Regional Hospital held a ribbon cutting this morning in celebration of the completion of the Emergency Room’s lobby remodeling project.

Chief of Nursing and Clinical Operations Brad Langdorf and CEO Steve Erixon both called the old lobby area dark, dank and dreary.

The new area, which Erixon called the hospital’s front door, has added windows and a front desk. Langdorf said previously people would walk into the lobby and not know where to go due to there not being a front desk. Individuals would be buzzed through doors and registration would take place elsewhere. Now there’s a front desk and flow is improved, he said.

Added windows to the outside help to brighten the area, and windows from the lobby to the ER have been added for surveillance purposes. Cameras have also been added, Langdorf said.

Work was done by Wind River Construction between Dec. 6 and Dec. 31, 2012. The state cleared the construction as compliant on Wednesday.

“His comment was, ‘I can’t find anything to write you up on,'” Langdorf said of the inspector.

Erixon called the new lobby a “nice transition space.”
