(Fremont County, Wyo.) – The First Stop Help Center in Lander is seeking aid countywide to participate in the 2013 Housing and Urban Development Homeless Point-In-Time count. The count will take place on Jan. 24.
The PIT count is an effort to identify all persons experiencing homelessness across the country on a single night. All of HUDS’s homelessness funding jurisdictions, called Continuum’s of Care (COCs), are required to conduct a PIT count of sheltered and unsheltered homelessness every odd numbered year.
First Stop is acting as the Continuum of Care for Fremont County for the county.
In each major town in Fremont County, First Stop is looking for volunteers to monitor stations, said Director Dana Neil-Flint. Duties will be to take information from local agencies who work with homeless as well as from individuals who meet HUD’s definition of homeless.
