Police Blotter: Arrests; Intoxicated shoplifter arrested in Riverton; juveniles cited for offenses in Lander

(Lander, Wyo.) – Friday’s law enforcement recap from across Fremont County.

Riverton Police Department

Arrests:

Dawn Bell, 32, Arapahoe, Contempt of Court Warrants. The arrest followed a report from the Tomahawk Motel  at 11:45 a.m. about an intoxicated couple in a room that was supposed to have checked out two hours prior.

Vincent Yellowbear, 51, Arapahoe, Public Intoxication. Denise Piper, 29, Ethete, Shoplifting and Public Intoxication. This pair was arrested after police were called to Loaf N Jug for a report of shoplifting. The caller said the subjects stuffed items in their clothing and left going down the alley. Yellowbear had a .2 BAC, and Piper had a .34 BAC. The legal limit for operating a motor vehicle is .08.

Daniel Black, 31, Riverton, Failure to Appear Warrant.

Calls:

At 1:10 a.m. on Thursday, police were called to Comanche Drive for a report of a male subject who told his sister that was intoxicated and took a bunch of pills. The call turned out to be a practical joke.

At 8:49 a.m. on Thursday, police received a call from the Maverik Country Store about an employee stealing from the store. The call is under investigation.

At 2:42 p.m., Thursday police took a report of a damaged fire hydrant at the intersection of West Main Street and Major Avenue.

At 4:47 p.m. on Thursday, a Riverton woman called about a concern for Pizza Hut. The woman said she called multiple times, and her granddaughter called multiple times, and no one was picking up. The woman was “really worried something may be wrong.” The restaurant’s phone system was down.

Lander Police Department

Arrests:

A 14-year-old male of Lander was cited for minor in possession and minor under the influence of alcohol at 10:24 a.m. on the 27th at the 400 block of North Third Street according to the police report. His blood alcohol content was at .09 according to the report.

At 4:23 p.m. on the 27th, a 13-year-old female from Cheyenne was cited for shoplifting of $3.64 in merchandise from Family Dollar on the 200 block of Grand View Drive according to the report.

At 8:44 a.m. on the 28th, a woman was cited for fraudulent activities at the Popo Agie One Stop. She attempted to cash a check of $69.11 on a closed account according to the report. The business contacted the bank and the bank contacted the Lander Police Department. The woman fled and drove towards Riverton. Highway Patrol found her in Riverton. She was arrested on numerous charges and sent to the Fremont County detention facility according to the report. Her name has not yet been released.

Calls:

At 2:02 p.m. on the 27th, officers were dispatched to the corner of North Eighth and Jefferson streets where it was reported that two juvenile individuals were fighting. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

An individual reported mail tampering from their address at the 100 block of Custer street at 2:04 p.m. His package, containing $14.00 in knives was empty according to the report. The knives have yet to be found.

A blue Dodge with Montana plates was reported driving aggressively between Lander and Hudson at 3:45 p.m. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 5:47 p.m. a person called to report a pizza delivery man was banging on their door at the 100 block of Smith Street, but the reporting party did not order pizza. Officers arrived and the delivery man had the wrong address, Chief Jim Carey said.

On the 200 block of Jefferson a black Ford truck hit a gas meter at 1:25 a.m. according to the report. The meter was ripped open and gas started pouring out. A witness said three to four individuals ran out of the car and into a nearby residence. The gas line was shut off and $1600 dollars of damage was done to the meter said the report. Officers located the truck and were unable to contact the owner. The vehicle was towed and damage to the truck is unknown at this time.

Fremont County Sheriff’s Department

Arrests: 

Fremont Count Sheriff’s Department has reported no arrests at this time.

Calls:

A sheriff’s deputy assisted Wind River Police Department at 11:11 a.m. in dealing with a highly intoxicated male in a field at Saint Steven’s Mission on Highway 137 according to the report.

The reporting party wants to report a neighbor in Dubois for trespassing on the 600 block of Cliff Drive. On the 27th at 8:26 p.m. the caller reported her neighbor has trespassed on numerous occasions while on vacation, the neighbor trespassed and trapped her cat in the residence according to the report. The reporting party is fed up with the neighbor and wants to report their neighbor.
