(Wind River Indian Reservation, Wyo.) – Today is the Northern Arapaho Tribe’s general election and the polls are open until 7 p.m.
The general election follows a second primary election that was held in November. The original October primary was voided due to ineligibility of certain candidates.
The Northern Arapahoe Business Council has six seats open, the Tribal Committee has six and the Economic Development Committee has five.
The polls opened this morning at 9 a.m. As of about 2 p.m. election judge Jordan Dresser said about 40 individuals had been through Fort Washakie’s polling location. He had heard the locations in Arapahoe and Ethete had more than 100 each so far.
“Come out and vote,” Dresser said.
The polling locations are at the Joint Tribal Complex Building in Fort Washakie, Blue Sky Hall in Ethete, and Great Plains Hall in Arapahoe.
Election results are estimated to be available by mid-morning on Friday.
