(Dubois, Wyo.) – Fremont County Sheriff’s Capt. Ryan Lee said his office has suspended its search for a possible downed airplane south of Dubois. The search was initiated late Sunday after reports came in of a possible aircraft in distress and columns of smoke.
“The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office has suspended their search for a possible downed airplane south of Dubois,” Lee said in a news release.
“The Civil Air Patrol was able to fly the area yesterday afternoon; they confirmed there was no Emergency Signal being transmitted in that area. The Civil Air Patrol was also assisted by a private plane out of Dubois. Both aircraft searched the area; they were unable to locate any visible signs of a downed aircraft.
“At this time there have been no reports of overdue or missing aircraft. We have searched to the best of our ability and are fairly certain we do not have a plane crash in the area, if more information surfaces we will take another look.”
