Woman killed by vehicle in possible homicide early today west of Kinnear
(Kinnear, Wyo.) – The Fremont County Sheriff is currently investigating an apparent hit and run incident that killed one person early Monday morning around 2:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the “Rezeride Roadhouse” Bar, west of Kinnear, according to Fremont County Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Lee.
“One person was pronounced dead on scene and another victim was transported to the Riverton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” Lee said in a news release issued at mid afternoon. “At this point it appears the deceased person and the surviving victim were both struck by a vehicle. The two victims were in the parking lot of the bar when they were run over. The suspect vehicle fled the area following the incident.”
See said law enforcement officials have identified a suspect as of early this morning. “That person is currently in the custody of the Wind River Police Department on unrelated charges,” Lee said. “Our Detectives are in the process of documenting and compiling information; at this point in the investigation we believe the State will be filing criminal charges soon.”
Lee said the case is remains under investigation and that he could not release any further details at this time. “All I can release at this time is that it appears we are dealing with a possible homicide and both the suspect driver and vehicle have been detained,” he said.
