Man Sentenced for assaulting family member and assaulting a Federal Officer on WRIR
(Cheyenne, Wyo.) – A local man was sentenced on Tuesday for assaulting a family member and assaulting a federal law enforcement officer on the Wind River Indian Reservation according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming Christopher A. Crofts.
Allen Standing Elk, 30, was charged in connection with two separate incidents on November 21, 2011 and December 17, 2011, wherein Standing Elk assaulted a detention officer in the Wind River Police Department’s detention center, and later caused a compound fracture to a family member’s forearm by hitting him with a stick.
Standing Elk was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Alan B. Johnson to 18 months imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and a $200.00 special assessment. Standing Elk was also ordered to pay restitution to the Wyoming Medical Center in the amount of $17,268.82 in connection with medical treatment for one of his victims.
