(Fremont County, Wyo.) – Thirty-Nine marching band members from both Riverton and Lander Valley high schools are heading to Cheyenne for a final practice this weekend prior to traveling to New York City Monday and appearing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 22nd. The local students are members of the Wyoming All State Marching Band. The group will return home on Nov. 24th.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be telecast on Thursday morning by NBC. The Wyoming All State Marching Band will be the 10th band in the parade, appearing after the half-way mark. KCWY-TV, Channel 13 in Casper will telecast the parade beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Pre-parade activities are also planned for NBC’s Today show, which airs at 7:00 a.m. and highlights from the parade will be to telecast at 2 p.m., according to station officials.
While in New York City, the band members are also scheduled to visit the Statue of Liberty, take in a Broadway show, receive a “behind the scenes” tour at Radio City Music Hall prior to attending the RCMH Christmas Spectacular and visiting the “Top of the Rock” at Rockefeller Center. After Thursday’s parade, the All-State Band members will also visit Times Square and take a walking tour of the Theatre District, and take a city tour including Harlem, Little Italy, China Town and Greenwich Village.
