(Riverton, Wyo.) – In an effort to gather feedback on county issues, the Fremont County Commissioners and other elected county officials will gather at 6 p.m. tonight (Thursday) for a “Town Hall” type meeting in Riverton. The session is set for Riverton City Hall’s council chambers and the public is encouraged to attend.
The meeting is the first of several to be held around the county, said Riverton District Commissioner Travis Becker.
Becker said he expected the “Fix Our Roads” optional one cent tax issue, a proposal to relocate the county fairgrounds and a long term solution to the Riverton courthouse to be brought up, among other issues. “The town hall meeting is scheduled to hear what county residents are thinking about, so we can get the public’s input,” he said.
Becker said the regular working meetings of the commission are required by statute to be held at the county seat in Lander, so the board decided to organize the Town Hall meetings in other locations around the county where the public would have a chance to meet and talk with their county elected officials.
After Riverton, the sessions are tentatively planned in successive months in Dubois, Pavillion, Shoshoni and Lander.
