Big change in weather coming tomorrow (Wednesday); rain, snow possible in Lander

(Riverton, Wyo.) – The National Weather Service is reporting that a strong Canadian cold front will move south across Wyoming tonight and Wednesday, bringing rain and snow to the Cowboy State on Wednesday. Another weather system will move through the area on Friday, bringing a second chance for a rain and snow event.

From the NWS-Riverton forecast office:

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR WESTERN AND CENTRAL WYOMING.

.DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT

A COMBINATION OF WARM TEMPERATURES…GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY COULD BRING ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TO MUCH OF WYOMING FROM LATE THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

WEDNESDAY…WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL BE DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT BY WEDNESDAY MORNING AS A COLD FRONT BRINGS MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES TO THE REGION. THIS FRONT WILL PUSH THROUGH NORTHERN AND CENTRAL WYOMING
TUESDAY NIGHT. RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW WILL OCCUR OVER THE NORTH WEDNESDAY. THIS PRECIPITATION WILL MOVE INTO CENTRAL WYOMING WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. COMMUNITIES MOST LIKELY TO RECEIVE MEASURABLE SNOW ARE CASPER…CODY…MEETEETSE…BUFFALO AND LANDER.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT…LOWER ELEVATION TEMPERATURES WILL DROP TO BETWEEN 22 AND 28 DEGREES. THESE TEMPERATURES WOULD BRING AN END TO THE EXTENDED GROWING SEASON RECENTLY SEEN IN MANY AREAS.

ANOTHER WEATHER SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION FRIDAY AND DEPART EARLY SATURDAY. THIS WILL BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF RAIN AND SNOW AND A REINFORCING SHOT OF COLDER AIR.

THOSE WITH OUTDOOR INTERESTS BETWEEN WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS CHANGE TO MUCH COOLER CONDITIONS.
