(Lander) – Lander Valley High School now has more information on a former student that left a generous amount of money to the school after passing away. Superintendent Mike Bowman learned that Norma E. Wolf bequeathed $25,000 to LVHS after she passed away this past October but didn’t have any information on her background. The school district now knows her maiden name was Norma Burkus and she graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School (the former name of LVHS) in 1941. At the time, Norma Burkus was senior class vice-president and attended FCVHS with her six siblings.
After high school she moved to California where she married surfing champion Aaron Andrew Wolf. Her niece Joanna said that Norma always spoke very highly of her high school and enjoyed spending her time there.
The school plans on using most of the money for scholarships and will name them after Norma E. Wolf.
