(LANDER) – Fremont County Orchestra Conductor Rebecca Murdock has announced the orchestra’s 25th season Spring Concert for Saturday, March 24.
Murdock said the concert program highlights “World Dances and Marches,” surprise soloists, a guest conductor for one number and the Imperial Orchestra.
The winner of the January “Conduct the Orchestra Auction,” selected the guest conductor.
The Imperial Orchestra features younger string players from around Fremont County.
The concert features Smetana’s “Dance of the Comedians;” Symphonic Dances from the Broadway musical, “Fiddler on the Roof;” Robert Sheldon’s “Danza Cubana;” Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Danse Nègre;” the Strauss (Jr.) “Egyptian March;” and Elgar’s “March of the Mogul Emperors” from his “Crown of India Suite.”
The program also includes a “Beatles Medley,” the “Kitchen Percussion March,” and “Thunder and Lightning Polka,” by Johann Strauss (Sr.) with 12-year old Riverton resident Rylan Peranteaux as the guest conductor.
Although most Fremont County Orchestra members live within Fremont County, orchestra performers also come from several other Wyoming counties.
The Fremont County Orchestra traditionally presents three concerts each year. Murdock said the spring concert would be on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lander Valley High School Auditorium. Concert tickets ($ 6.00 / person; $ 20.00 / family) are available at the door. A reception follows the concert.
