Local food producers invited to participate in food fair

(Riverton) – Food producers are invited to participate in the 2012 Local Food Fair scheduled for Saturday, March 10 at Central Wyoming College.
To create a local food network and to match customers to local producers, the fair is sponsored by CWC and scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at the Intertribal Education and Community Center.
The format is informal and each producer has a table to display their products and distribute information to the public about their farm, their products and how consumers can buy from them, said organizer Sherry Shelley, CWC Riverton Outreach coordinator.
“Even very small producers are encouraged to participate,” she said. “If you are raising a few lambs or pigs for market, if your apple trees produce more fruit than your family needs, if you’re planning to have eggs to sell, or spare rhubarb or green beans, this is an opportunity to promote those items.”
Shelley said this is an opportunity for farms considering expansion into the local market to test the waters and to spread the word.
To participate in the food fair, contact Shelley at (307) 855-2125.

  1. What a great opportunity for the producing family's and citizens within our community as well. How wonderful to have the freshest produce, poultry, pork or beef possible. Then you not only know what may be in your food because they can tell you what they fed the animals or placed upon the produce such as pesticide-free etc., but the flavors seem to be much more appealing when grown on a smaller scale with love! :)
