Former Lander teacher charged with sexual assault of a student in Rawlins

(Rawlins) — A former Fremont County high school teacher has been charged with 10 counts of second and third-degree sexual assault and other charges, for alleged numerous sexual encounters with a student dating back two years. According to the Rawlins Daily Times which published the story Saturday morning, Social Studies teacher Scott AllenWilson, 43, was arrested on the charges in December after allegedly having a 17-year-old girl perform oral sex on him in a classroom.
According to the Daily-Times account, the latest incident occurred on Dec. 15, 2011, but other encounters are alleged to have occurred with the same female student in the previous two years, according to an affidavit filed to support the charges. The man, who was also an assistant football and track coach at Rawlins High School, apparently was investigated for inappropriate contact with a student when he taught at Lander Valley High School. According to the affidavit, portions of which were published in the Daily-Times article, “Wilson was asked if he had been in trouble before. He said when he taught in Lander he passed a note to a girl and took her into a corridor between classrooms. An investigation by the school led to no action, Wilson said.”
Fremont County School District 1 Superintendent Dr. Michael Bowman said school records indicated Wilson had worked in Lander from August 1997 to December 1998. Bowman was unable to provide any additional details due to the confidentiality of personnel actions.
Wilson apparently also taught at several other Fremont County Schools Districts, including Riverton and Wyoming Indian. Wilson posted bond on the charges in December and is scheduled to appear for arraignment on the charges in Carbon County in the coming week.
The story published Saturday morning was written by reporter Sean Harkins, Rawlins Daily-Times.

Lyle: We were too busy being seniors to notice a new teacher. Think that he was the freshman social studies teacher our last year at LVHS. I do remember my sister telling me about his indiscretions the next year while I was going to CWC.
