Lander school trustees set public input meeting for strategic planning

By Dr. Mike Bowman, FCSD#1 Superintendent

(Lander) – In an effort to obtain community input into the development of its Strategic Plan, the Fremont County School District #1 Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting at Lander Valley High School at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 13. During the meeting, Board members will share with the public the current Strategic Plan goals along with the District Improvement Plan goals that were developed as part of the state’s accreditation process last fall. Community members will be able to provide feedback about the progress that the District has made toward goal accomplishment, and then they will be asked to provide suggestions for goals on which the District should focus for the next three years.

The previous Strategic Plan was developed in 2009 and has been in place since that time. The process of developing the new Strategic Plan began with the Board’s reviewing the current Strategic Plan goals, District improvement goals, and various pieces of school district data at its February 3rd meeting. Board members are also going to each worksite in the District during February to obtain input from employees. During Board work sessions in March, April, and May, the Board will discuss the input that is received and develop the new Strategic Plan which is scheduled for adoption May 15. The new Strategic Plan will be in place from July 2012 through June 2015.
