Lander PD Arrests: Woman subdued with Taser after drunken rampage; four DUIs collared.

Lander Police ReportTwenty-Five-year-old Janelle Denny of Ethete was arrested Saturday morning by Lander Police on charges of  criminal entry and resisting arrest.  According to Chief Jim Carey, Lander PD Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:00 a.m. Saturday on a report of an intoxicated female who had locked herself in someone else’s vehicle and was refusing to leave.  Upon officers contacting the woman and asking her step out, she refused with vulgar language, and had to be physically removed from the vehicle.  A police report said that once Denny had been removed from the vehicle, she continued to struggle, cursed at officers and attempted to spit in their faces.  Once she was placed inside the back seat of the patrol car, Carey said she kicked out the plexiglas divider and began to kick the patrol car shot gun.  Carey said the woman was then drive stunned with a Taser, subdued and controlled.

In other reports from the weekend, Tristan Larson, 27, Lander, was arrested Saturday morning on charges of driving while under the influence (DUI), careless driving, speeding, and running a stop sign.  Larson was observed by a patrol officer traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Third and Lincoln streets, the location of the Lander Police Department.  He reportedly failed to stop for a stop sign and continued westbound on Lincoln.  Before an officer could catch up to the motorist, she lost control of her vehicle and slid sideways on the ice covered street.  An officer was able to perform a traffic stop a short time later.  Upon contacting Larson, the officer reported detecting an odor of alcohol on Larson, and field sobriety testing showed she was unable to operate a motor vehicle safely and she was arrested.

Three other DUI-related arrests were noted over the weekend, including:

– 30-year-old Clifford Tillman of Ft. Washakie who was arrested Saturday morning after his vehicle was observed weaving in and out of his lane of travel.  Field sobriety testing showed Tillman to be intoxicated and he was arrested for DUI, driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without insurance and failure to maintain a lane of travel.  He had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.18.

– 55-year-old Delthe McLeod, who was arrested Sunday morning on several outstanding warrants including obtaining property under false pretenses,  two failure-to-appear warrants for DUI and for driving under suspension.

– 41-year-old Elliott McGill was arrested Sunday afternoon for DUI physical control and on two outstanding drug court warrants.

Super Bowl Sunday

Lander Police Officers were busy super bowl Sunday with several intoxication calls, according to Chief Carey. Officers responded to a 911 hang up call at approximately 7:00 a.m. at a residence in town where they observed 32-year-old Preston Schamp attempting to kick in the door of a residence, and 32-year-old Themayne Thunder attempting to enter an unlocked running vehicle.  Both Preston and Themayne were arrested on public intoxication charges.  Thunder was additionally served with outstanding warrants for kidnapping and aggravated assault.
