Arrests: Police Blotter; Two detained in domestic assault; Fire burned abandoned Arapahoe residence;

Riverton Police Department

It was a busy weekend in Riverton with 17 arrests recorded by the RPD. Captain C.T. Smith said a domestic violence incident sent two people to the Fremont County Detention Center Saturday after police recieved a call of a fight in progress. Arrested and charged with  felony and misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and strangulation of a household member were Jeremiah Bush, 35 and Heide Bush, 36. Heide was also charged with interference with an emergency call. According to a police report, officers reponding to the call “found two household members had assaulted a 17-year-old juvenile in the residence.” The police report indicated the 17-year-old suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

RPD also arrested two individuals on charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol, including  Emily Fuhrer, 23, Riverton and Danny Slavin, 61, Coffeyville, Kansas.

Other arrests included: Kenneth Shakespeare, 26, Arapahoe, probation revocation; Clowry Means, 45, Riverton, public intoxication (2), disturbing the peace and an outstanding municipal warrant; Stephen Decorte, 27, Riverton, probation revocation; Mark Ybarra, 22, Riverton, municipal warrant; Stacy Medicinetop, 24, Arapahoe, municipal warrant and resisting arrest; Jacob Wright, 22, Riverton, disturbing the peace;  Steven Amos, 40, Ethete, public intoxication (2) ; Steven Sunrhodes, 27, Riverton, public intoxication; Dennis Teran, 30, Riverton, public intoxication; Medalia Sittingeagle, 20, Arapahoe, minor in possession of alcohol and a county warrant; and Bryan Antelope, 19, Arapahoe, minor in possession of alcohol and a municipal warrant.

Fremont County Sheriff

Arrests reported over the 72-hour period that ended Monday at 7 a.m. included: Mark Reese, 49, Riverton, larceny, and Elliott Megill, 41, Ft. Washakie, contempt of court and probation revocation.

Two property damage single vehicle crashes were reported over the weekend, including a pickup that flipped over on the Lyons Valley Road outside of Lander and a vehicle versus deer crash near Riverton.

Deputies responding to a call early Saturday near Lander where a cow had reportedly been shot with an arrow found a tree branch caught in the animal’s hair. There was no arrow.

The owner of some horses pastured near Lander reported that when she went to feed them Sunday afternoon, she discovered someone had cut the tail hail off of all the animals. They were otherwise unharmed.

A five-year-old girl received treatment at Lander Regional Hospital’s Emergency Room after she was apparently bitten by a family member’s dog Sunday evening.

An argument over dogs fighting near Riverton apparently resulted in one person firing a gun into the air shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday during the dispute. The gun was put away.

Riverton Fire Protection District

Riverton firefighters were called out Friday afternoon, Feb. 3, at 5:19 p.m. for a structure fire on the Wind River Indian Reservation. RVFD’s Jeff Kehl said the fire at an address on the Left Hand Spur Road was found in an abandoned house. He said the fire, apparently intentionally set, started on the southeast corner of the 960 square foot house and spread inside a wall and into a room inside. He said the fire damaged about 25 percent of the structure.  Kehl said the fire was extinguished without incident. Two engine companies and 12 firefighters responded to the call and were on scene until 6:45 p.m. Information and evidence gathered at the scene was turned over to the FBI for further investigation.
