Riverton Police:
The Riverton Police Department reported five arrests in the 24 hour period that ended at 7 a.m. Wednesday. All five were for alcohol-related offenses. Arrested for public intoxication were: Eldon Antelope, 47, Riverton; Steven Amos, 40, Riverton; Jerome Whitewolf, 26, Riverton. County Sheriff:
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Department reported one arrest since Tuesday morning, that of Jaymes Whiteplume, 25, Riverton, for a probation revocation.Deputies were called to help an area landowner retrieve a lamb that had fallen and gotten caught under a cattle guard near Pavillion. The caller said she was unable to free the lamb. The lamb was recovered unharmed before the deputy arrived.

Deputies were involved in a second search and rescue effort this year on the Ore Road north of Jeffrey City early Tuesday when a man failed to arrive to work after leaving Laramie earlier that morning. The man’s pickup truck pulling a gooseneck trailer became stranded on the road, which is not maintained in the winter months. The subject driving the truck was found in good condition.

Circuit Court:
The 17-year-old youth who allegedly stole a car early Saturday and then crashed it into and well inside the Riverton Walmart store is being charged as an adult and is being held in lieu of $50,000 cash bond. The Fremont County Attorney’s office has filed six charges against Donovan J. Shakespeare  including felony counts of larceny and property destruction (two counts) and misdemeanor counts of  driving while under the influence, reckless endangering and reckless driving. Shakespeare is being held in Natrona County’s Juvenile Detention Center in Casper.

  1. Donovan J. Shakespeare? To be released on bond or not to be, that is the question. But since Walmart's probably covered by insurance for the damages and nobody was hurt, perhaps his lawyer can argue that all's well that ends well and it's much ado over nothing. In any event, measure for measure, this is truly Riverton's winter tale!

  2. yes walmart probaly does have the insurance to cover it. But it was a miracle no one was hurt! he coulda killed someone in the store, or anywhere between there & where he stole the car! the courts need to send a message that this kind of recklessness is unacceptable no matter what. it could well have ended as a horrible tragedy. plus, he was a minor driving drunk which makes it even more risky. add in that the car was stolen? he didn't care who he hurt or where! I hope they put him under the jail!
