10rides: A beautiful 1962 VW with a family legacy
This is the first ever #10rides story, a new series highlighting some of the many cool cars and trucks touring around Fremont County. #10rides is presented by Bailey Tire and Auto Service.
Meet this beautifully restored, all-in-the-same-family car: a 1962 VW Beetle Convertible.
This car was originally purchased by Treva Deemer in Casper, who is the current owner, Raymond Good’s, aunt.
“Ray purchased it from her in 1974 and it was our first car when we got married and only mode of transportation,” says Ray’s wife, LaDonna. “Forty-two years later, we are still together.”
The car spent some time in the 1980s with Ray’s grandfather in Kansas.
“The Kansas rain, humidity, and sun exposure, however, wreaked havoc on the poor little car, especially the convertible top and undercarriage, so we brought it back to Wyoming,” LaDonna said. “The car was stored inside a shed for nearly 30 years waiting to be brought back to life.”
Ray’s brother Curtis Good and his son Travis opened 2 Good Restorations in Sheridan last year, and Ray talked them into taking on the Beetle as one of their first projects. The car was totally dismantled, refurbished, and restored to its beautiful and fun condition.
“We look forward to sharing it with County 10 in car shows, parades and Sunday drives,” LaDonna said. “It has been a sentimental journey for the whole family to see this project completed.”
Bailey Tire and Auto Service has offered to display #10rides vehicles in their Riverton showroom, so look for this beauty there soon.
